The Cat I’th Well is a hidden gem of a pub, an ideal place for tourists and locals alike to refuel the mind and body in a truly magnificent location.
Situated just approximately 4 miles from Halifax, 9 miles from Hawarth and 12 miles from Bradford the Cat I’th Well is in the heart of Pennine walking, cycling and real ale territory. There are gentle strolls through Luddenden Dean or uphill challenges on the moors for the more athletic.
Enjoy the best pint of Timothy Taylors beer you’ll ever experience in front of the log fire in winter, or on the terraced beer garden in fair weather. The Cat I’th Well also has a huge selection of malt whisky. After all, mine host Alex is a Scottish Yorkshireman!
Be sure to look out for the resident cat (called Dog) nestled in front of the real fire and Baily the good natured chocolate Labrador. Whilst walking or having a drink in the beer garden, be sure to look out for Paddy the horse – he definitely is a boy at a reputed 34 years old.
There are regular catered events throughout the year including the walk to Castle Carr Fountains. Splendid hearty meals are served throughout the year.

We can cater for all of your events, from Birthdays to Anniversary celebrations, and aim to make your day one that you will not forget! Situated in the beautiful area of Wainstalls, our surroundings consist of spectacular landscapes and views that would provide the perfect backdrop for any event. We also offer our delicious hog and chicken roasts, which can be catered for in our lower outside area, next to our Beer Garden. We also have facilities for setting up a marquee.
