The Vulcan, Pub of Year 2007 by Sunday At Seven Real Ale Group (SASRAG).
The pub won the award for its range of beers, food, entertainment and landlord Peter Woodhead’s presence behind the bar.
The SASRAG annual award is made to the pub which has served quality real ale throughout the year and made an effort to give customer choice.
“The secret to a successful pub is to give the customer a fair deal; a place to escape and relax amongst company, good conversation, a good range of quality beers at a reasonable price, good food and good entertainment – be it sports TV or just pool – and finally, a landlord who spends time behind the bar or in the pub.
